Court History
The Petaluma Recorder's Court was a municipal-level court that handled misdemeanor offenses. The Petaluma Court came under the jurisdiction of the Sonoma County Municipal Court following court reorganization and consolidation. The Sonoma County Municipal Court was itself absorbed into the Superior Court following the voter-authorized reorganization in 1998, California Proposition 220.

Abstract
This collection contains ledgers listing misdemeanor cases handled through the Recorder's Court, by the Petaluma City Recorder. Recorder's court docket records spanning the early twentieth century. These are primarily handwritten volumes, although some were typewritten.
