This collection contains photographs and ephemera of Santa Rosa primarily from the 1880s to the 1970s. A major focus of the collection is the personal papers of the Van Wormer family of Santa Rosa, namely Clara (Van Wormer) Black, who worked as a secretary for Luther Burbank, was involved in the prune business and managed substantial properties in the city. It also includes records related to Clara's son Harry V. Sucher, and the Coffer and Hoag families. Ephemera related to various Santa Rosa businesses, institutions and organizations span a range of record types including advertisements, catalogs, business receipts and cards, menus, property deeds, letterhead and directories.
